Herb Tip Tuesday!

34
If you are anything like me you buy herbs like cilantro, use a little bit in a recipe and the rest goes to waste. I hate throwing any type of leftover food away, so I am always looking for new ways to keep things fresher longer. Today's tip will get you started on that path.

You will need the following items:

Glass (small works fine)
Slightly warm water
Small Sandwich Style Plastic Bag
Space in your Fridge

The next time you buy cilantro the moment you get it home fill a small glass with slightly warm water and stand your cilantro bunch in it.

Place your small sandwich style bag right over top of all the cilantro leaves. Pull down slightly, just enough that all of the greenery is covered completely.

Take your cup of cilantro and place it in your fridge somewhere out of the way so that it doesn't get knocked over. The only thing to do from here on out is change the water in the cup daily and use your fresh herbs as you need them. Now I have only kept it like this for just over 2 weeks so I am not sure how long it will keep in total. All I can tell you is that at the 2.5 week mark when I used the remaining leaves up, they were still fresh, green and very tasty.

Have you tried this before? Do you have any other ideas for keeping cut herbs fresh for a period of 2 weeks or more? Please link up below with your thoughts and ideas.
