Poutine Bear Style

34
Poutine...the favorite of many a Canadian, originating in Quebec, this flavorful dish has spread like wild fire all across our country. If you haven't tried some, then you are missing out...and if you have tried it, I bet you have not had it like this before. I am going to share with you how we make Poutine in the Bear house...

SOO GOOD!!!

You will need the following to get started:

Potatoes (as many needed to fill your table guests bellies)
Gravy (Homemade or Prepackaged powder works too)
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Parchment Paper Covered Pan
EVOO
Sea Salt (regular salt or seasoning salt will work as well I just like the crunch of Sea Salt for this)

Begin by heating your oven to a very toasty 500°.

Potato prep... At this point there are 2 options:

1) You can microwave your WHOLE potatoes for 5 minutes to give them a jump start on cooking.
2) You can slice up your potatoes and then blanch them in a boiling pot of water for 3 minutes, draining well.

With your potatoes preheated and sliced and or sliced and preheated depending on your method of choice, place them on a parchment covered baking sheet and cover them in a healthy dose of EVOO and a sprinkle of sea salt.

Place your potatoes in the oven on the middle rack for 15-20 minutes making sure to turn them 2x to brown them evenly...as well as watching them carefully around the 10 minute mark so you don't burn them.

While they are baking you can prepare your gravy to your liking. I personally start with a package of Club House Brown Gravy mix and to that some water from the potatoes, carrots or roast beef juices that have been cooked prior or with this meal.

If you don't have pre-shredded Mozzarella cheese now would be a great time to get that done.

DING!

Time to take out your potatoes and get to creating your work of art. Start with a layer of potatoes.

Add to that your layer of Mozzarella Cheese...

Top it all off with a layer of gravy...

Nothing left to do but enjoy...and if you are anything like me you will burn your mouth, being too impatient to wait for it all to cool down first.

Now Go Be Brave...and try something new today like POUTINE!!!
